Happy Mother's Day

It’s that day where we take a moment to honor the mothers and mother figures in our lives.

I’m so blessed to have such a wonderful and supportive mother. I talk to her (almost) every day and think about her often. I know she’s in my corner and will love and support me no matter what. I’m delighted to see how our adult relationship has developed over the years. I’m so lucky.

Besides my own mother, I’m beyond lucky to have many strong mother figures in my life. My mother-in-law is an amazing person. She’s very supportive of me and my family. She lends a hand at a moment’s notice. I’ve got two sisters in law who love my family. There have been times in my life when I spent more time with some of my teachers than I spent at home and they stepped in as my school moms. Friends. Colleagues. A whole network of strong and capable women who understand the importance of community (even if they are not technically “mothers” themselves). How fortunate am I to have all of these women in my life?

I always knew I wanted children, and am happy I get to spend today celebrating being a mom to two fantastic boys. I couldn’t imagine my life without Dominic and Zachary. They have shaped my life in every conceivable way. I’m thankful for them every moment of every day. Watching them develop their own unique personalities is delightful. I’m so honored to be their mom. I feel like every year my job as their mother shifts a little. Gone are the days when my job revolved around diapers and nap schedules.
